ep 3. Behind the Scenes
비하인드 신
The well-known Korean proverb goes, 'As long as you reach Seoul, any path will suffice,' implying that the end justifies the means. Amidst the hustle of our daily urban lives, fulfillment often arises not from the steps we take or the processes we undergo, but rather from the achievement of our goals and the realization of our objectives. It's only when we finally encounter the completed outcome that the journey we've embarked upon truly seems to hold significance. However, as we sail through life, there are moments that may challenge this value system—moments that prompt us to question the process rather than the ultimate long-term destination: Why are we striving to reach a particular destination? What originally motivated us to set foot on this path? Which path among many will we choose to reach our goal?
In Episode 3, Radar introduces three artists, each of whom brings forth these notions in their own unique ways: Sejin Kim, Jina Park, and Suh Yongsun. Through the stories of these three artists, Radar aims to share the unnoticed shadows of life, ever-present yet concealed until consciously observed.
모로 가도 서울만 가면 된다고 했었던가, 매일을 살아가는 도심 속 우리는 종종 과정과 단계보다는 결과와 목표의 달성으로부터 성취감을 얻곤 한다. 완성된 결과물이 눈 앞에 있을 때, 혹은 목적지에 도달했을 때 비로소 지나온 순간들이 가치를 지니게 되는 것이다. 그러나 살다 보면 어느 날 불현듯, 꼭 그렇지만은 않다는 걸 깨닫게 해주는 순간들이 찾아온다. 어디에 가는가라는 질문보다는 그곳에 우리는 왜 가려하는가, 무엇이 우리로 하여금 그곳을 향하게 만들었는가, 또는 그곳에 도착하기 위해 어떠한 길을 택할 것인가라고 자문하게끔 하는 순간들 말이다.
에피소드 3에서는 서로 다른 방식과 소재들로 이러한 질문들을 던지는 김세진, 박진아, 그리고 서용선을 소개한다. ‘비하인드 신’을 통해 틀림없이 현존하면서도 의식하기 전엔 보이지 않는 삶의 그림자들을 포착한 이들의 작업을 함께 나누고 싶은 바람이다.
